The Data Protection and Digital Information Bill would set new rules for how information about living people can be processed and give the Information Commissioner stronger powers to enforce those rules. It introduces controlled data sharing for public services and for law enforcement, regulates biometric data, and covers privacy in electronic communications and digital trust services such as electronic signatures.
