The Climate Education Bill would require climate change and sustainability topics to be taught across the core school curriculum in primary and secondary education and to be included in vocational training courses. It aims to ensure students learn about climate issues as part of their formal education. The bill has so far completed its first and second readings in the House of Commons and was introduced by Nadia Whittome of Labour (Co-operatives & Alliance).
The bill is currently at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons; it has not yet moved to committee stage. Two readings have taken place since its introduction in 2021.
