A Bill to repeal the European Communities Act 1972 and related legislation; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
26 April 2013
This Bill would repeal the European Communities Act 1972, which currently allows EU law to operate in UK courts and governance. It also repeals related legislation, and for connected purposes, effectively removing the mechanism that previously incorporated EU rules into UK law. Parliament would then consider how to handle rights and obligations that come from EU law under future rules.
The bill is at its Second Reading in the House of Commons. It will need to pass through later stages (Committee, Report, etc.) to become law.
