A Bill to apply the terms of the European Union Act 2011 such as to require approval by Act of Parliament and by referendum of provisions for creating a fiscal union or economic governance within the Eurozone.
House of Commons
26 April 2013
This bill would change the EU Act 2011 so that any proposals to create a fiscal union or other Eurozone-level economic governance would only take effect in the UK after Parliament passes an Act and the public votes in a referendum. In short, it adds a democratic check on plans for closer economic ties with the Eurozone.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons and originated in the Commons.
