This Bill aims to tidy up tenancy law by consolidating the rules for renting in both the social housing sector and the private rented sector into a single framework. It brings together existing regulations and related rules so they are easier to reference and apply, covering tenancy creation, management and related matters. It also includes connected provisions to support the consolidation.
Currently at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons, the bill is at an early stage of parliamentary scrutiny. If given the go-ahead, it will move to the committee stage for detailed examination and amendments.
