A Bill to amend the Energy Act 2011 to enable residents of houses in multiple occupation to benefit from the provisions in the Act designed to increase energy efficiency; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
26 April 2013
This bill would amend the Energy Act 2011 so that people living in houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) can benefit from the energy‑efficiency provisions in the Act. In short, it extends the reach of existing energy‑efficiency rules to HMOs, helping tenants in shared homes access improvements and protections already available to other dwelling types.
The bill is at the 2nd reading in the Commons. If it passes, it would move to Committee stage and then further readings in the Commons before going to the Lords.
