A Bill to require the Secretary of State to amend legislation to allow for noise contours to be used as a measure of property blight caused by national infrastructure projects; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
26 April 2013
This Bill would require the Secretary of State to change existing law so that noise contours around national infrastructure projects can be used to judge whether nearby properties are blighted. It aims to make it possible for affected property owners to access compensation on the basis of noise-related blight, using measured noise levels as the criterion. In short, it updates how blight from infrastructure is assessed to improve fairness for residents and businesses near such projects.
Currently at the second reading in the House of Commons, an early stage of passage.
