The Assisted Dying Bill would allow competent adults who are terminally ill to be provided with assistance to end their own life on request. It would set out who can provide that assistance and establish safeguards to ensure decisions are voluntary, informed and carried out in a regulated way.
The bill is at the second reading stage in the Lords. It will then move on to detailed scrutiny in committee stage before progressing further.
