The Collection of Nationality Data Bill would require the government to collect and publish information about the nationality of two groups: people who receive benefits and people who are issued National Insurance numbers. In short, it creates a new data-collection and publication duty on the state regarding nationality information for these groups.
The bill is at the 2nd Reading in the House of Commons. It originated in the Commons, with its first reading dating from 2013; no further stages are recorded here.
