This Bill would require non-domestic callers to reveal their caller line identification (CLI) to recipients. It would allow Ofcom to consider exemptions from this requirement and would prevent telephone providers from charging for providing CLI, with the aim of reducing nuisance/unwanted calls. It also covers related provisions described as “connected purposes.”
The Bill is at the 2nd Reading in the Commons. If it progresses, it would move to Committee Stage and later Report and Third Reading, before going on to the Lords.
