This bill would update the law on using force to stop crime or defend people or property. It changes the relevant provisions of the Criminal Law Act 1967 for England and Wales and the Criminal Law Act (Northern Ireland) 1967 to make the rules about lawful force clearer and more consistent between the two jurisdictions.
Currently at the second reading in the Commons. If it progresses, it will move to Committee stage for detailed examination and then to further stages in both Houses.
