The Terms and Conditions (Migrant Workers) Bill would stop employers from offering migrant workers terms and conditions that are less favourable than those offered to UK nationals for the same job. In effect, if both groups are eligible for a role, the pay, hours, holidays and other employment terms must not be worse for migrant workers. It also notes 'connected purposes', which could cover related enforcement or practical measures.
Originating in the Commons, the bill had its first reading in July 2014 and is currently at the 2nd Reading in the House of Commons. If it progresses, it would move to committee stage and subsequent readings before potential passage to the House of Lords.
