A Bill to provide that employers may not offer to migrant workers terms and conditions less favourable than those offered to UK nationals for the same employment; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
27 March 2015
This Bill would make it illegal for employers to offer migrant workers terms and conditions that are less favourable than those offered to UK nationals for the same job. It is intended to ensure fair treatment by establishing parity in employment terms between migrant workers and UK nationals, with any related provisions included under the ‘connected purposes’ clause. In short, two people doing the same work should not have different, worse terms based on nationality when one is a migrant worker.
The Bill is at the 2nd Reading in the House of Commons. If it continues, it would move on to committee stage and further readings before becoming law, subject to passage through Parliament.
