This Bill would require public buses to provide audio announcements with route and next-stop information. It is intended to help passengers who rely on spoken information, especially those who are blind or partially sighted, to navigate bus services more easily. The"and for connected purposes" clause allows related measures to support the main duty.
The Bill is at the 2nd Reading in the House of Commons. If it progresses, it will move to Committee stage for detailed scrutiny, followed by Report and Third Reading before going to the Lords.
