A Bill to make provision about direct planning pilot schemes; and for connected purposes.
House of Lords
12 May 2016
The Direct Planning (Pilot) Bill would set up a framework for direct planning pilot schemes. It would enable experimental planning approaches in selected areas to test whether some planning decisions can be made more quickly or differently, with rules to govern the pilots and require reporting on their results. The aim is to explore improvements in how planning decisions are made, while keeping accountability and safeguards.
The bill is currently at its Second Reading in the House of Lords. If it progresses, it will move to Committee stage and later stages, and would then require consideration by the House of Commons.
