House of Commons
12 May 2016
The Foreign National Offenders (Exclusion from the UK) Bill would give the government new powers to exclude foreign national offenders from entering or remaining in the UK. It would define who counts as a foreign national offender and set out how exclusion decisions are made and reviewed. The aim is to prevent those who have committed offences from being in the UK, subject to due process safeguards.
The Bill is at its Second Reading in the House of Commons. If it progresses, it would move to Committee stage for detailed examination, then to further readings in the Commons and consideration by the Lords.
