This Bill would change how the Lords’ allowances, expenses and financial interests are managed by moving responsibility to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority. It would also introduce compulsory retirement for Lords under certain conditions and set out measures to reduce the total number of Lords. It is currently being debated in the House of Commons, at the 2nd reading stage.
The bill is currently at the 2nd reading in the Commons. If it passes this stage, it would move on to further stages in the Commons before going to the Lords for consideration.
