This bill would put the Armed Forces Covenant into law in the United Kingdom, making the promises to current and former service personnel more concrete. It aims to ensure the Covenant is actively implemented by requiring public bodies and government departments to consider Covenant commitments in policy-making and service delivery, and to publish reports on progress.
The bill is currently at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons. It will proceed to committee scrutiny and further readings in both Houses as part of the normal passage to becoming law.
