A Bill to make provision about controls on the transportation of nuclear weapons.
House of Commons
13 May 2016
Transporting nuclear weapons is a highly sensitive activity. This bill would set out rules for how such moves are planned and carried out, including who can oversee them and what safety and security steps must be followed. It would empower authorities to enforce the rules and to deal with breaches, including reporting requirements.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons, where MPs debate the general principles. It has not yet progressed to detailed scrutiny or to the Lords.
