This bill would raise the standards for taxi and private hire drivers by setting out the skills and knowledge they must have. It would also place new duties on the operators of taxi/private-hire vehicle (TPHV) companies and on service providers, require certain insurance for these businesses, and address how they are taxed. The overall aim is to improve safety and accountability across the taxi and private hire sector.
