This Bill would amend the Harbours, Docks and Piers Clauses Act 1847 to allow local authorities to ban, in certain circumstances, the transport of live animals for slaughter abroad using harbour facilities they control and operate. It is intended to give councils more power over how live animal shipments move through their harbours.
