This Bill would change the Bread and Flour Regulations 1998 so that flour used for baking must be fortified with folic acid. The aim is to reduce the risk of neural tube defects by increasing folic acid intake from staple foods. The Bill originated in the Lords and is currently being considered in the House of Commons at the 2nd reading stage.
