This Bill would change the rules about how long someone's offence stays on their record under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. By amending rehabilitation periods, it could change when a conviction is treated as spent and how long it affects a person’s record. The aim is to help people move on after punishment while still protecting the public.
Currently in the Lords, at the second reading. It has not yet progressed to the House of Commons.
