The Rehabilitation of Offenders (Amendment) Bill [HL] would change how long offences stay on a person’s record under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. It sets new rehabilitation periods, which determine when information about offences must be disclosed in job applications and other checks. The bill is currently being debated in the Lords and would modify the rules governing rehabilitation after offences.
The bill is currently at the 2nd reading in the Lords. If supported, it would move on to committee stage and further readings, with a view to eventual passage to the Commons.
