A Bill to make provision for Members of the House of Lords to vote at elections to the House of Commons.
House of Lords
2 May 2017
The Bill would allow Members of the House of Lords to vote in elections to the House of Commons. In effect, it extends the right to vote (the franchise) to Lords for general elections. It is currently at the second reading in the House of Lords and would need passage through both Houses and royal assent to become law.
The Bill is at the second reading in the Lords. If it progresses, it would move through further stages in the Lords, then be considered by the House of Commons and, ultimately, receive royal assent to become law.
