This bill would allow Members of the House of Lords to vote in general elections for MPs in the House of Commons. In effect, it extends the voting rights to Lords, bringing their status in line with other eligible voters. It is currently progressing in the Lords and has not yet become law.
The bill is at the second reading in the Lords. The first reading occurred on 8 June 2016. It would require further readings and approval in both Houses to become law.
