A Bill to provide that the Secretary of State’s powers in relation to the management of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, include the power to grant a lease in respect of land for a period of up to 150 years.
House of Commons
15 August 2017
The Bill would give the Secretary of State the power to grant leases on land at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew for up to 150 years. This is meant to help with long-term planning and management of Kew; ownership would not change, only the length of leases that can be granted.
The bill is at Report Stage in the Commons and will continue through the remaining Commons stages before potentially moving to the Lords, if it passes.

The Bill was to be further considered on Friday 12 May. However, as a General Election has now been called and Parliament will be dissolved from 3 May 2017, the Bill falls and no further action will be taken.
