A Bill to make provision about the appropriate level of access to NHS services and accommodation for mothers with perinatal mental illness; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
28 April 2017
This Bill would set out a framework to ensure mothers with perinatal mental illness have appropriate access to NHS maternity and mental health care, and access to suitable NHS-related accommodation. It aims to clarify duties on NHS bodies and related services to support mothers from pregnancy through the early postnatal period and to improve the care environment for families affected by perinatal illness.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the Commons, the initial stage for debate. If it progresses, it would move to further stages such as committee and report stages.
Generated 21 February 2026
This Bill was expected to have its second reading debate on Friday 12 May 2017.
However, as a General Election has now been called and Parliament will be dissolved from 3 May 2017, the Bill falls and no further action will be taken.
