This Bill would preserve workers’ rights that come from EU law after Brexit, keeping them in UK law. It sets out how those rights should be maintained, enforced and updated where needed to fit modern workplaces. The aim is to prevent any loss of protections for workers while allowing necessary updates to be made.
The bill is at the Second Reading in the House of Commons, where MPs are debating its general aims. If it passes, it would move on to committee stage and subsequent readings.

This Bill was expected to have its second reading debate on Friday 12 May 2017.
However, as a General Election has now been called and Parliament will be dissolved from 3 May 2017, the Bill falls and no further action will be taken.
