House of Commons
28 April 2017
This Bill aims to reduce unfair differences in the health care received by people with mental illness and learning disabilities. It would require commissioners of health services to publish an annual report to the Secretary of State on whether services are provided equally, the health outcomes for these groups, and their experiences of care, to improve accountability and drive improvements in equality of care.
The Bill is at the Second Reading in the House of Commons, the initial stage of debate. If progressed, it would move to Committee Stage for detailed scrutiny and amendment.
Generated 21 February 2026
This Bill was expected to have its second reading debate on Friday 12 May 2017.
However, as a General Election has now been called and Parliament will be dissolved from 3 May 2017, the Bill falls and no further action will be taken.
