A Bill to amend the Civil Partnership Act 2004 to include sibling couples
House of Lords
12 September 2019
This bill would amend the Civil Partnership Act 2004 to allow sibling couples to enter civil partnerships. It would extend the law’s eligibility rules to include adults who are siblings, who otherwise meet the remaining requirements for civil partnerships. If passed, this would change who can legally form a civil partnership in the UK.
The bill is at its Second Reading in the House of Lords. If it progresses, it would move to the Committee stage and then further readings in the Lords.
