The Cohabitation Rights Bill aims to give legal protections to people who live together as a couple, or have done so in the past, by recognising their rights in certain situations. It also sets out how the property of a deceased person is handled when a cohabitant survives. The bill is currently being considered in the Lords at the Second Reading stage and relates to housing and technology policy areas.
Currently at the Second Reading in the House of Lords. After this stage, it will continue through the Lords’ normal stages before moving to the Commons for consideration.
