A Bill to require public authorities to have regard to the need to consider physical and mental health impacts in the exercise of their functions; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
22 March 2019
The Health Impacts (Public Sector Duty) Bill would require public authorities to consider how their decisions and actions affect people’s physical and mental health when carrying out their functions. In other words, organisations like local councils, NHS bodies and government departments would have to think about health impacts as they plan and deliver services, with related measures that can be added later.
The bill is at the 2nd Reading in the House of Commons. If supported, it will proceed to the committee stage for detailed scrutiny.
