This Bill would prevent the marketing and advertising of foods that do not meet specified nutritional requirements from being targeted at children. In effect, adverts for unhealthy foods could not be aimed at kids and would be restricted across marketing channels such as television and online media. The aim is to reduce young people’s exposure to marketing for foods that are not considered healthy.
The bill is currently at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons. It originated in the Commons and would move to the committee stage after this debate if progressed.
