The School Uniform (Gender Neutrality) Bill would require schools to run with gender-neutral uniform policies, so clothing choices are not tied to a pupil's gender. It aims to prevent gender-based discrimination in uniform requirements and to allow all pupils to wear clothes they are comfortable in. The bill is a Private Member's Bill introduced in the Commons by Layla Moran and is currently at its second reading.
The bill is currently at its second reading in the Commons; it began with a first reading in 2019. As a Private Member's Bill, it would need to pass through the remaining stages in both Houses and gain Royal Assent to become law.
