The Destitution Domestic Violence Concession (Eligibility) Bill asks the government to report on widening the destitution domestic violence concession so that it could cover European Economic Area nationals and people who are not currently eligible as a partner for entry clearance. It does not immediately change rights but requires a government report on whether extending protection to more domestic violence survivors is appropriate and feasible.
The bill had its first reading in March 2019 and is currently at the Second Reading in the Commons. If it progresses, it would move through committee, then further readings, before becoming law.
