This Bill would require doctors to tell the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) if a patient is diagnosed with dementia. It would also require people diagnosed with dementia to complete a supplementary driving assessment. The aim is to improve road safety by ensuring a driver’s fitness to drive is reviewed after a dementia diagnosis.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons. It has previously had its first reading (in 2019) but has not yet progressed to further stages.
