Sir Christopher ChopeConservative
30 October 2008
The Drugs (Roadside Testing) Bill would create a legal framework allowing police to carry out drug tests for drivers at the roadside. It would set out how these tests are conducted and what happens if the result indicates illegal drugs, with the aim of strengthening enforcement of drug-driving laws and improving road safety.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons. If it passes, it would move on to committee stage for detailed examination and then proceed through the remaining stages.
