The Duchy of Cornwall Bill would change who can become Duke of Cornwall, updating the rules of succession. It would remove several powers, exemptions and immunities the Duchy currently enjoys, and set out how the Treasury Solicitor and any lawyers working for the Duchy should be involved. In short, it aims to reform how the Duchy is governed and its legal arrangements, with related provisions included.
The bill is currently at the 2nd Reading in the Lords. If it progresses, it will move to Committee Stage, then Third Reading in the Lords before going to the House of Commons.
