A Bill to make provision for an Office of the Whistleblower
House of Lords
5 May 2021
The Office of the Whistleblower Bill would create an independent Office of the Whistleblower to receive and oversee disclosures of wrongdoing, and to protect and support those who raise concerns. It would establish how whistleblowing disclosures are handled, set duties on organisations to respond, and provide protections against unfair treatment for whistleblowers.
The bill is currently at the Lords’ Second Reading. If it progresses, it will move to Committee stage in the Lords for more detailed scrutiny.
Generated 21 February 2026
First reading took place on 28 January. This stage is a formality that signals the start of the Bill's journey through the Lords.
