The Control of Roadworks Bill would punish roadworks that overrun their planned duration and set rules about how long works can run, when they can take place and how different roadworks projects are coordinated. In short, it's aimed at reducing disruption from roadworks by making timings and durations clearer and by improving coordination.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons. It originated in the Commons and was first read in February 2020; if it progresses, it would move to committee stage.
