This Bill would change Part 3 of the Housing Act 2004 so that any local authority selective licensing scheme for rented housing would also apply to social housing. In effect, social housing properties and their landlords would need to be licensed in areas where selective licensing operates, putting social housing on the same regulatory footing as private rentals.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the Commons, following its first reading on 10 February 2020.
