This bill would set out how local NHS organisations that arrange and buy services — clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) — should be answerable to local people. It aims to introduce local accountability rules so patients and communities can see how decisions are made and have a way to challenge them. It is a Private Members’ Bill introduced in the House of Commons by Sir Christopher Chope.
The bill has reached the second reading in the House of Commons. If it progresses, it would go through committee stage and subsequent readings; as with many Private Members' Bills, passage is not guaranteed.
