The bill would require a Minister to make an oral statement to Parliament if a contract awarded under emergency statutory powers goes to a person or to a company in which the Minister has a personal, political or financial interest. Its aim is to increase transparency and accountability around emergency procurement and potential conflicts of interest in defence-related matters.
Currently at the second reading in the House of Commons. If it progresses, it would move to committee stage for detailed consideration.
