This Bill would let teachers and other education staff choose to be accompanied at disciplinary or grievance hearings by someone other than a trade union representative or a colleague. In effect, staff could bring along a friend, family member or adviser of their choice to support them during hearings. The change broadens who can provide support while keeping existing rights available.
The Bill is at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons. The first reading occurred in March 2021; no further stage information is provided here.
