A Bill to make provision for an Office of the Whistleblower
House of Lords
28 April 2022
The Bill would create a new statutory Office of the Whistleblower to receive and review whistleblowing disclosures, protect whistleblowers from retaliation, and oversee how organisations respond to concerns. It would set out the Office’s independence, powers and funding, and require organisations to cooperate with it and follow its guidance where relevant.
The bill is currently at the 2nd reading in the House of Lords and is in the early stages of passage. It will move to committee scrutiny next, with further stages in the Lords and, if amended, in the House of Commons.
