This bill would lower the voting age to 16 for elections to the UK Parliament and for all local elections in England. If enacted, 16- and 17-year-olds would be eligible to vote in those elections. It is currently being considered in the House of Lords (HL).
The bill is at the second reading in the House of Lords. If it progresses, it would move through further stages in both Houses and would require Royal Assent to become law.
