This bill would create an independent commission to organise and oversee leaders' debates during a General Election. It provides a formal mechanism for arranging debates between party leaders and for carrying out related tasks to support public discussion of election issues.
The bill is currently at the 2nd Reading in the House of Commons. If it progresses, it would move to Committee stage and then to further readings before moving to the Lords.
