A Bill to prohibit persons from being registered to vote in Parliamentary elections at more than one address; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
5 May 2022
The Voter Registration Bill would stop people being registered to vote in Parliamentary elections at more than one address. It creates a rule that a person can only be on the parliamentary register for one address, with extra rules to help put this into effect. The aim is to reduce duplicate registrations and make the voter list clearer and more reliable.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons, where its general principles are considered. If approved, it would move to committee for detailed examination, then proceed to the Lords and, if enacted, to Royal Assent.
