This Bill would stop criminal penalties for not paying the BBC licence fee by people aged 75 and over. In effect, older people in this age group would not face criminal prosecutions for non-payment, with related provisions covered by the measure. It is a Commons Private Members’ Bill introduced by Sir Christopher Chope and is currently at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons.
