A Bill to require a Regulatory Impact Assessment to be published for all primary and secondary legislation introduced by the Government; to make provision for associated sanctions; and for connected purposes.
This bill would require the Government to publish a Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) for every piece of primary or secondary legislation it brings forward. It also creates sanctions for not publishing an RIA and includes related provisions to support the requirement. In short, it aims to make policy changes more transparent by obliging upfront analysis.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons, an early stage of passage with no Committee or Lords scrutiny yet.
