A Bill to make provision for asylum seekers to challenge the proportionality of a proposed eviction from accommodation before an independent court or tribunal; to establish asylum seeker accommodation eviction procedures for public authorities; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
29 April 2022
This Bill would let asylum seekers challenge the fairness of evictions from their accommodation in an independent court or tribunal. It would also set out the steps public authorities must follow when seeking to evict someone who is seeking asylum, with aims to ensure eviction decisions are proportionate and subject to scrutiny.
The Bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons. If it progresses, it would move to committee stage in the Commons, then to the Lords for consideration.
