If enacted, the Digital Devices (Access for Next of Kin) Bill would give a next of kin a legal right to access the digital devices belonging to someone who has died or who cannot make decisions. It is intended to help families manage the deceased's or incapacitated person's digital affairs.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons; if it progresses, it will move to the Committee of the Whole House for detailed examination.
